The Smartphone wars are never ending. If you think you own an extraordinary smart phone for a price, may be within the next month, you’ll get to see another Smartphone with features better than that of yours at the same or very close price range. I have decided to judge between two new Smart phones in the market: OnePlus Two and Motorola Moto X Play. Or wait, I can rather title it as OnePlus Two Vs Motorola Moto X Play.

OnePlus Two Vs Moto X Play
OnePlus Two

In the Indian markets, Motorola has its name from Moto E, Moto G and Moto X. OnePlus is a sudden and a surprise hit in the Indian market with its 2014 flagship killer OnePlus One. OnePlus One had successfully attracted many users and managed to satisfy them except for the heating issues (which almost all the smart phones in the market today have).

Let us not get too deviated from the topic. Leaving behind OnePlus One, let us discuss more on OnePlus Two and Motorola Moto X Play. When we are comparing two different smart phones, we need to definitely go with the specifications, price and also the user reviews. Let me get into the details.

Price Factor

OnePlus Two and Motorola Moto X Play are priced at a very close range while OnePlus Two seems to be a bit cheaper than Moto X Play. However, getting a OnePlus Two for yourselves is quite difficult, as the OnePlus follows the invite model. The OnePlus Two has entered into the market with the invite model again (as OnePlus One once had). So, it might seem a little off when you have to wait for an invite to book OnePlus Two.

I am not going to compare the specifications here. If you just want to compare the specs, scroll down to the bottom for a quick glance. We’ll discuss in detail at this point.

Moto X Play comes with 21MP camera while OnePlus Two ships with 13MP camera similar to its predecessor OnePlus One. However, even with 21MP camera, the Moto X Play does not have any indication for focus, for which you might not guess if the image you just took will be clear & sharp or blurry. That’s a great dissatisfaction even at 21MP camera.

The interface for camera app in both the Smartphone’s are not distracting but neat. In Moto X Play, you can take a shot by just a tap on the screen and hold it for a while to take multiple shots and this varies in the OnePlus Two which is not really a bad thing to distinguish.

The Motorola Moto X Play is embedded with 1.7GHz Snapdragon 615 (Octacore) processor in it, while the OnePlus Two comes with Snapdragon 810 processor. We can understand that the OnePlus Two heats a bit more than Moto X Play does, as Snapdragon 810 is accused of overheating. However, the heating issues is common for almost all the smart phones today (including iPhone & iPad’s – they get heated up more than the normal one’s). So, it should not be your major concern.

Benchmark Tests:

You cannot really observe a wide margin in the numbers from the benchmark tests. Even if you do, it’s hard to observe the difference while using the phones. The performances of these two smart phones are close and are good for the price spent to get the device.

Hardware & Design:

The Motorola has not concentrated on the design, but in the OnePlus Two, you can observe the difference in the design from its predecessor. The OnePlus Two has a hardware button with Finger print sensor similar to the TouchID on Apple devices. Though few user reviews say that it is slow compared to the Apple devices, you might want to really believe it.

The edge grill in the OnePlus Two is made of Magnesium which weighs slightly lesser than Aluminium. The add ons to the OnePlus Two when compared to OnePlus One are: Dual SIM (Nano SIM Slots), Back Panel Removal option, Finger Print Sensor on the hardware button, Position of the rear view camera, USB Type C port and the OS. OnePlus Two ships with Oxygen OS developed by OnePlus exclusively for OnePlus Two.

Motorola Moto X Play has only a single SIM slot which is a drawback again. It also does not feature any hardware button as there are not significant changes in the design. Though, in the Moto X Play, the camera, flash and Moto symbol seems good on the panel without actually occupying too much space or making it clumsy to look.

OnePlus Two ships with 3300 mAh battery while the Moto X Play comes with 3630 mAh battery. According to the capacity with 5.5” display, Motorola Moto X has to perform well in terms of battery. However, they both seem to perform close enough with Moto X Play having a slight more battery back up to the OnePlus Two. Also, Motorola claims that the Moto X Play can stand live to 30hrs which might be an exaggeration.

Final Verdict

At a very close price range, if we have to surely decide between Motorola Moto X Play and OnePlus Two i.e; OnePlus Two Vs Moto X Play, I’ll probably go with the former one. Though the Moto X Play has surprised us with its camera, the rest bends towards the OnePlus Two.
